York Engagement Shoot | Nikki and Adam’s Pre Wedding Shoot | York Wedding Photographer Hamish Irvine
Since Nikki and Adam’s exciting York engagement shoot a few weeks back, I had a realisation. I really don’t post my pre wedding shoots enough! Especially when they’re this colourful and inspiring. So I’m going to get back into the blog with my pre weds. Starting with N+A’s shoot, particularly as it’s their wedding this weekend at East Riddlesden Hall! Being a York wedding photographer, it was great to return to the city to take some relaxed portraits. Especially as Nikki and Adam have now a little addition to their family, 5 month old Henley. He was a little tired for the shoot, but we managed to grab just enough of him looking happy before snooze o clock.
I get asked regularly, what is the purpose of the engagement shoot? For me, it’s a great excuse for us to meet up within a couple of months of the wedding for a pint, have a laugh and a big catch up. We can cement all the final details and timings for your wedding. This way, I’ll be ready to immerse myself in the day and capture every memory, moment and detail.
The portrait side can be daunting for couples, but trust me, every one of my couples enjoys it and sees its worth afterwards. Relaxing in front of the camera will come naturally to you on your wedding after having the experience of the pre wedding shoot! Location wise, I like to shoot in urban or green places, but it’s your choice ultimately. Personally cities are my favourite. I love to use the energy, architecture and conflicting colours of the streets to tell a story, basically I get to combine my two favourite types of photography – street and wedding!
I pose very little on my shoots, I like to direct you enough so you just relax and hold each other naturally together. This way I get honest images of you two together all loved up, which for me make the best portraits. Then after the shoot, you’ll feel more confident for the big day and thrilled to see the images.
