Holly & Danny’s colourful and crazy wedding day at Unity Works, Wakefield

Unity Hall Wedding Photography. Woohoo! New venue time. I’ve been excited for ages to join Holly and Danny at their funky Wakefield wedding venue Unity Hall.

After Holly and Danny’s very wet and rainy Yorkshire Sculpture Park pre wedding shoot, they were super excited for the photography side of the day, I was delighted with how much they loved the pics. Scroll down right to the end, there’s 3 to show off. But they were missing their pup, Teddy who joined us at the shoot, but he’s too cray to bring to a wedding haha.

South Ossett Christchurch Wedding Ceremony

It was a busy morning with talented Muby Leigh making all the girls look stunning. The boys were pretty hungover from a heavy night before, as the girls sipped their morning mimosas quite happily. With the morning rush over, they jumped in a camper van off for the wedding ceremony at South Ossett Christchurch. At the church, unfortunately the vicar wouldn’t let me or anyone take any photographs inside the church at all during the ceremony. Sometimes this does happen, many vicars and registrars have very strict policies,  so future brides, this is something to bear in mind when you choose your church if you wan’t photographs inside!

Holly & Danny skipped out of the church into a shower of confetti. We had the group shots outside as there isn’t much space or room at Unity Hall. Then hilariously, Danny got shat on by a resident pigeon of the tree we were standing underneath. Good luck or what?!?

All things Borrowed’s fantastic wedding decorations at Unity Hall

Off to Unity Hall in Wakefield for the rest of the wedding day! We stepped into discover All Things Borrowed had done an absolutely magnificent job of decorating the interior. Everything looked superb, and a dream to photograph around. Create Cafe, Wakefield had done some excellently creative wedding catering with a fresh Mediterranean starter buffet waiting for everyone as they arrived.

Unity Hall has some lovely hidden spots inside for wedding portraits. I do love a challenge when it comes to finding portraits. Outside the hall, it was a little rowdy and rainy with a music festival on and this unlucky streak of wet weather we’re having. So our 10 minute portrait shoot had to be inside. Sometimes I’d secretly rather take an industrial, modern building than open green fields on a sunny day to capture a couple. It’s often finding the magic in the non obvious that brings real satisfaction to this job.

On with the party! The drinks had flown down, with many shots in between and after an emotional and magical first dance, the energy hyped up and never faltered. A highlight had to be Holly and her girls jumping up on stage, grabbing a microphone, spontaneously singing karaoke, with their drinks spilling everywhere. The night went on, and the dance moves got more bizarre. Particularly from the Best man, interesting dance moves that maybe didn’t live up to the success of his speech haha! but so ace to photograph. 

And that’s the first wedding photography at Unity Hall I’ve shot this year! So thanks so much for having me guys, and meeting me over a year ago at the Hepworth Gallery Wakefield Brides Up North Wedding Fair.
