A classical wedding at one of Leeds’s most stunning venues. Liz & Andy’s wedding at Oulton Hall
Oulton Hall Wedding Photography. Hello! We’re in the height of summer now and I feel like I’m blogging every other day which is a great feeling. So on with the next, here’s Liz and Andy’s wedding at Oulton Hall on Saturday!
Oulton Hall is a stunning venue just outside of central Leeds. Liz and Andy chose this Leeds wedding venue as they go there semi regularly to get some RnR away from work. Aside from the most excellent spa at Oulton Hall, the wedding venue part is a beautiful spot, and as my first time shooting there solo, I absolutely loved it.
Liz is a huge Jane Austen fan, and so the wedding had a few little classical touches on the theme. Liz had a wonderful parasol that looked amazing and went so well with the dress, but maybe wasn’t too helpful in the rain showers that kept coming in and out! Andy gave Liz a locket with an image of his face photoshopped onto a classical Mr Darcy portrait and a portrait of their cat inside- Liz’s two greatest loves haha. Each table was novel themed, and my favourite part was this wonderfully crafted book that held the rings inside. It was Pride and Prejudice, with the inside of the book carved out into a love heart, with the rings sitting inside on chapter 1- what a sweet idea!
It was great to catch up with Richard Reynolds, a brilliant magician I have met before at a wedding fair and will in fa ct be seeing at next Thursday’s wedding at Carlton Towers. The excellent magician was turning his talents elsewhere today though as he stepped up to be Andy’s Best Man. Although he couldn’t help himself pulling out his cards throughout the day, and even treating everyone to a couple of surprise tricks at the beginning of his speech. He pulled out a card in a ball of fire that lasted about half a second that I was absolutely gutted to have missed. I just wasn’t fast enough (boooo me!).
It was also a pleasure to bump into Ellia White, one of my good friends and amazing hair and make up artist in the morning. She was one of a host of wonderful suppliers, alongside local florist, Cathryn Gander, Simply Strings quartet, and their hugely rocking indie band, The Peaks.
Liz and Andy loved their pre wedding shoot which I was super pleased about as neither of them are particularly fond of having their photo taken. So after a few snaps on a summery, golden evening shoot around Eccup Reservoir, they had the confidence on the day to just relax and let me snoop out the spontaneous shots and take some laid back portraits. The perfect outcome for any pre wedding shoot, and that’s why I have them!
From start to finish, Liz and Andy’s day was a massive whirlwind! Liz looked incredible in her dress, the style just suited her so perfectly and the day as a whole. I love there were so many quiet emotional moments to the complete opposite, of raucous, exciting moments on the dancefloor. These guys love to dance, and really got down hard to The Peaks rocking it in the evening.
