Left Bank Wedding Photography
Lisa and Stephen
So as Leeds wedding venues go, for Leeds wedding photography, Left Bank is one venue to get really excited about. I first met Lisa and Stephen at the Left Bank open day nearly a year ago. Since then I’ve been really excited to return to the rustic, red bricked converted church for what I knew would be a real party.
I joined the girls for a chilled out morning at L+S’s lovely home. The bubbly was popped open, as make up was well underway. Accompanied by some acoustic guitar and singing marking the first tears of the day for Lisa! I then dashed over up to the Headingley Lodge where Stephen and his best man Martin jumped in their suits overlooking the Headingley cricket ground. We managed to fit in a swift Guinness at the Headingley taps (my old student local) before they headed to Left Bank, and I returned to the girls.
Lisa was then in her stunning dress and the energy was picking up. It was raining pretty hard at this point, but the umbrellas were at the ready (any bride and grooms reading this, always bring umbrellas just in case!) Stephen stood strongly at the alter as team bride made their way in. Photographing through the curtain of lights made for some beautiful effects as Lisa looked up to greet her Groom. Lovely stuff.
With a relaxed humanist ceremony complete, the wedding was in full swing and straight into the party. El Kantina, Leeds local mexican street food team served up tequila shots and mini burritos. Check out all the screwed up faces from the tequila tang!
With a second round of tequila shots handed out, it was time to be seated. But not before a big surprise. As an unsuspecting waiter burst into song after fooling the guests into thinking it was his first day on the job. Everyone was singing and dancing, conga lining, clapping and twirling their napkins. Even an Irish dancing contest came out of nowhere too, with some interesting dance moves on show. Some good, some maybe not so good haha!
With the Mexican meal served, and the crowd settled down, there was a lucky gap in the weather. I got to take L+S out for their portraits just before speech time when the tears really started rolling! Evening guests arrived, and before I knew it it was party time. A magnificent first dance, with Stephen performing a solid 40 second lasting lift (possibly a new record), the night had begun. So it was perfect time to pull out the sparklers. Everyone turns into a little kid with sparklers and tonight was no exception.
I was pulling myself away to leave, but there was so much crazy dancing on the dance floor it was pretty difficult! I finally stopped myself shooting, and looking back at it, Lisa and Stephen celebrated a real party for their big day. The perfect balance between tradition and fun. Thank you so much for having me, hope you love the pics x
