Hospitium Wedding Photography | Lizzy & Jenna | York Wedding Photographer
Hospitium Wedding Photography. Well then, I was right in what I was saying on their engagement shoot (see the pics and read here)! Yet another fantastic wedding so far this year I’ve had the pleasure of being a part of. You wouldn’t have even noticed the during rain outside all day, everyone was having so much fun. Lizzy and Jenna celebrated their wedding in such fantastic style! From start to finish, there was all the colour, emotion and laughter that makes this job the best job in the world.
As a York Wedding venue, The Hospitium is one of Yorkshire’s wedding treasures. Especially when so beautifully decorated by Fiona Hogg– wonderful job! Slap bang in the middle of the York museum gardens, it was perfectly close to where Lizzy & Jenna were getting ready in their little cottage across the road. Making the morning extra special was the fact that these two got ready together. I love gay wedding photography where the brides/grooms do this. I photographed the brides do each other’s make up at the last same sex wedding I was at, it makes for some pretty special moments, and breaks the standard tradition nicely. Lizzy was hiding from Jenna all morning though on this one, check out pic no.2! So all make up credit goes to Aimee Long!
The girls had a ‘first look’ in the morning too, which was one of my favourite photographs from the day. A wedding first look is a kind of new tradition where the couple see each other before they walk down the aisle. Wait till you see the look on Jenna’s face as Lizzy turned the corner, it was pure magic.
So at Lizzy and Jenna’s wedding, it rained all day. I really wanted to get a confetti shot and an everyone photograph, so I acquired the help of The Hospitium security guard, who alerted me to weather changes. Suddenly I got the call to action, and I rushed everyone outside. Boom. The second I took the photo, the heavens re-opened. Perfect timing. And such beautiful confetti!
The rain did eventually stop in the evening, for all the sparkler action. The girls armed their guests with at least 150 sparklers, there were so many! They still didn’t last too long. Sparklers + slightly drunk wedding guests = a 20 year reduction in everyone’s age! Like kids in a candy shop, but the shop’s full of fireworks, and they’re all pyromaniacs. No problem with that however, as it was a pretty magical moment with everyone outside around the bride & bride, sparkling it up.
The dance floor was, to say the least, wild. There were some absolute scenes at this wedding. Who knew Jenna’s Mum could dance so well? Who knew heads could bang that hard? Who knew wine balancing was a form of interpretive dance? If you want to know what I’m on about, you’d better start scrolling!
I hope you all love the photographs, and congratulations Lizzy and Jenna! So wonderfully happy I met you all that time ago at the Brides Up North Denton Hall fair 2 years ago!
