2018! That’s a wrap!
Best Leeds Wedding photography
Unbelievable right? 33 weddings, twelve months, down to one 1.39 slideshow and blog. This selection of photographs are my favourites from a year I just can’t quite get my head around. Every image here brings me back to a wonderful memory. Best Leeds Wedding photography
Looking back on all these moments of life’s emotions, I see how privileged I’ve been to have captured these photographs. Thank you to every person who’s welcomed me into their world so warmly, you make this extraordinary job the pleasure it is.
It feels strange to think that just over a year ago, I graduated from university, I had only a handful of weddings in the diary and I was stuck on where my photography and myself belonged in the world. I still feel a lot like this way, but this year I’ve discovered my favourite subject: the unequivocal, raw nature of human emotion.
A wedding is the best occasion for observing our most profound and euphoric emotions. Love as an emotion is infectious, fascinating, bewildering and difficult to pin down why it’s so encompassing. I think many of those feelings make their way into my pictures.
In the heat of a wedding, it is quite the experience capturing immensely expressional and important subjects within a frame. The weight on your shoulders to secure the shot not simply successfully, but creatively is heavy and electrifying. Through the day, hits of adrenaline become immediately inspiring. Seeing an image suddenly exist, from out of your imagination within a matter of seconds is a supreme feeling. That feeling continues from the moment you captured the photograph, right to the day you deliver the image to the couple.
Photographs reflect life, they preserve a moment for the rest of time. Pictures work differently in different contexts, and have different meanings to different people. Every one of us is an individual, and will take a completely different photograph of the same subject to the next person. Isn’t that so interesting?
In a short space of time I’ve become obsessed with experimenting, developing and pushing to master my own style, to make me different. I love so many of my images from this year. Next year I want to discover what makes my images look individual, and makes me, me. I hope you’ll be along for the ride!
Thank you so much for reading, and hope you enjoy the slideshow and the full selection of images below. The video’s got a pretty bangin beat to it, but only has about half of the pics below on it.
