A very very London Wedding! Rebecca & Robin’s adventure across the Asylum Chapel and the Lordship Pub in East Dulwich

Asylum Chapel Lordship Pub Wedding Photography. It was soooo good to be back in London for a wedding! I’m back baby!
So this is Rebecca & Robin’s wonderful day round Peckham and East Dulwich. As you will have seen, these two picked two incredible settings for themselves, their guests and family to have the best party.
The Asylum Chapel in Peckham is a wonderland for photographers. All the peeling paint and deep colours make it one of London’s best alternative wedding venues. Then the Lordship Pub in East Dulwich was again an excellent place for the party to accelerate. An open bar and some mighty wedding feasting set the pub up to be another brilliant London pub wedding venue that will not be forgotten.
Photography wise it was a challenging day, with a 4pm ceremony and the light almost completely gone for the time Rebecca arrived. The Asylum Chapel has very few windows, so using some lighting wizard I really lit the place up to make use of all those incredible colours and textures. It was lovely capturing the guests’ arrivals as their faces lit up in surprise at the interior of the chapel.
It was also amazing to be reunited with one of the UK’s most charismatic registrars. There’s no one quite like this registrar, and I wish I knew his name! Anyone does, let me know 😉 He’s like proper London and half stand up comic whilst owning his legal duty in an elegant and creative manor. I saw him funnily enough at there last Asylum chapel wedding I shot, it was great to see him again.
With an energetic ceremony over, a few group shots in the Asylum Chapel complete, we jumped on an old London red bus across to the East Dulwich wedding venue. The pub was already prepared with some delicious canapés, and the bar was in full flow as we arrived.
The part later on was really swinging, with a most excellent DJ pumping out the bangers straight after a short and sharp first dance. Now Rebecca on the dance floor, definitely embraces the dancing! Especially knowing how these guys met at a party, as Rebecca danced next to a fridge, it did make me smile to capture lots of images of the two of them dancing together so happily.
