A MOST COLOURFUL COMEBACK: SUZIE & ROSIE’S WEDDING WAS BEAUTIFUL IN EVERY WAY

Barmbyfield Barns Wedding Photographer. Wow, what a day hey? So much colour, so much love; brilliant fun, spectacular design, wonderful venue. There’s nothing more we could’ve wished for after a difficult past few months. 

Suzie & Rosie were originally set to tie the knot back in April and moved over to October 17th 2020.  Then on the 22nd September (doomsday), bloody Bojo lowered the guest restrictions to just 15 from the following Monday. Then, the phone rang, and it was Suzie & Rosie: ‘Are you by any chance free this weekend for us to move our wedding?’… ‘I absolutely am, woohoo! Let’s go!’ And with fantastic luck on their side, every guest and every supplier was free, and what a celebration we had.

It was exciting being thrown back into the chaos of a wedding morning. I’ve really missed the fantastical chaos of it all. All in one house at The Squirrels, we had Rosie upstairs and Suzie downstairs chatting to each other from the landing to the living room, as the many bridesmaids rushed around make-upping and hairstyling. 

It was heartening to be reunited with amazing Amy George Make-Up, who lives locally to me, representing the North Leeds wedding crew! We were both masked up in our PPE, but felt solidarity on being back in the ring together again.

I love a first look. They’re deemed quite American by some, but for many it’s a lovely way to see each other for the first time alternatively, meeting before the ceremony just the two of you. S+R didn’t know what each other’s dresses would look like at all, snapping Suzie’s reaction as Rosie twirled her dress around was pretty magical. (Lace & Co Horbury & Yorkshire Bridal)

The magic kept coming as the girls danced out of their ceremony, holding their most unbelievable bouquets made by mega talented, Dottie of Hyde Park Flower Club. I’ve never seen such a colour palette at a wedding before. I’m usually worried of pink being too dominant but this couldn’t have been more imaginative. The floral designs and colours lit up York wedding venue Barmbyfield Barns, which is like a perfect canvas for everything creative-  how incredible was the wedding breakfast though?? And the girls brought in York based caterer, Babaganoush, serving up beautiful platters for the party.

It was one of the windiest weddings, as you can probably see from the multiple Marilyn Monroes and veil craziness! As the party continued and the drinks flowed, we enjoyed some emotional speeches, with some pretty interesting jokes in there from Rosie’s Dad! We gotta sunset, as S+R always wished for from the first time I met them. Darkness fell, the sparklers came out, all we were missing was the dancing. But all in all, what a day.

Suzie & Rosie, thank you so much for having me, I feel so lucky we met all that time ago at the Denton Hall wedding fair, and I see you guys as amazing friends I’ve made along our journey. We’ve been through all the shit together too through the difficult months, and looking back it was all worth it. I truly loved every second of your day, and I hope you treasure the moments forever.
