Rachel & Matt’s all out geek out wedding adventure at Waterton Park

Waterton Park Wedding Photographer. I joined Rachel & Matt at the Wakefield wedding venue, Walton Hall at Waterton Park for their fantastic wedding!
As self proclaimed geeks through and through, the day was full of fun nerdy features and awesome things to photograph. Even from the start, I arrived and Rachel and her bridal team were racing each other on Mariokart on the Nintendo switch, all the way through to cutting their Portal game themed cake! When the tune Star Trekking Across the Universe came on on the dancefloor, a whole team of Trekkies piled onto the floor and knew every word and every move. Then the time warp came on, and took it to the whole next level! This was such a brilliantly individual wedding to shoot, and it was such a lovely opportunity to capture these guys and their best mates have so much fun through the day and night.
Alongside all the fun were some wonderfully emotional points in the day. Rachel & Matt have been together for a good few years now, and listening to their friends pay tribute to them as such a wonderful couple and such amazing friends together was inspiring. They even joined both hen and stag do’s together which I love! Both these two are really emotional people, and as most of my blog readers know, I do love capturing these teary moments. One moment in particular was a wonderfully selected reading which I rarely hear. It’s from Philip Pullman’s Amber Spyglass, an extract narrating the main character’s special love for her best friend in the novel. The words were so beautiful, I thought I’d feature the extract here:
“I will love you forever; whatever happens. Till I die and after I die, and when I find my way out of the land of the dead, I’ll drift about forever, all my atoms, till I find you again… I’ll be looking for you, every moment, every single moment. And when we do find each other again, we’ll cling together so tight that nothing and no one’ll ever tear us apart.
Every atom of me and every atom of you… We’ll live in birds and flowers and dragonflies and pine trees and in clouds and in those little specks of light you see floating in sunbeams… And when they use our atoms to make new lives, they won’t just be able to take one, they’ll have to take two, one of you and one of me.”
This had everyone in tears. It is an incredible reading, I hope you enjoyed it! And with that, I hope you all loved the photographs, I can’t wait to share the rest with you.
